The Colquitt County eighth-grade baseball team pounded out 13 hits — including a grand slam by Raines Plant — in a 16-6 victory over Lowndes Middle School on Tuesday at Packer Park.

The victory raises the eighth-graders’ record to 11-3.

Plant also had a single to go with his bases-loaded home run and was one of five Packers with two hits.

The others were Ethan Phillips, Tanner Wilson, Gavin Patel and Carson Asbell.

Wilson Hewitt, Caleb Ashley and Mack Crosby also had base hits.

Ashley and Phillips did the pitching.

The eighth-graders play next on Thursday when they play host to Pine Grove at 4 p.m. at Packer Park.
