MOULTRIE -- The Colquitt County Gold A Farm League all-star team won its second pre-Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District III tournament last weekend, taking five straight games in the Americus Kiwanis Baseball Classic.

The team also won the Thomasville tournament last week.

Colquitt County opened the tournament with a 17-0 victory over the Rose City Rebels.

Blake Bennett, Daren Kent, Dustin McAlpin and Jonah Bozeman each had three hits and Preston Berry had two in the game.

Two of Bennett's hits were triples. Kent also had a triple. Kent, McAlpin and Bozeman each drove in three runs.

Gold also won its second game in a one-sided shutout, blanking the Schley County All-Stars 14-0.

Bennett, Bozeman and Andrew Eunice each had three hits and Kent, Aubrey McCarty and Mack Hathcock each had two.

Bozeman and Berry drove in three runs each. Kent had a home run and McCarty, Berry and Bennett had triples.

Colquitt County continued to roll in its third game, shutting out the Americus Vipers 15-0.

Bennett, Eunice and Kent each had three hits. Berry and Bennett had triples and Berry drove in three runs.

In the championship round, Colquitt County defeated the Americus Jets with Bennett, Mack Hathcock and Jim Harrison each contributing three hits. Zack Saunders had two hits.

Harrison and Hathcock each drove in three runs.

In the championship game, Gold defeated the Miller County All-Stars 13-5.

Kent, Berry and Zack Saunders each had three hits and Dustin McAlpin chipped in a pair. Saunders, Ken and Hathcock each drove in two runs.

Colquitt County will play in a tournament in Colquitt on Friday and Saturday.
