MOULTRIE -- Colquitt County's Jessica Lemus and John Michael Hall have been named to the All-Region 1-AAAAA basketball team for the third consecutive season and Ashley Stafford was named for the first time in balloting done by the writers who cover the region.

Stafford and Hall were named to the first team. Lemus was included on the second team.

Hall, who led Region 1-AAAAA in scoring at 16.4 points a game, was joined on the boys first team by Coffee's Devon Edwards, Lowndes' Terrance Vinson, Tift County's Donnell Cullins and Houston County's Warren Gregory.

Vinson, who led the Vikings in scoring with 13.2 points a game and in rebounding with 9.6 a game, was named the region's Player of the Year.

The Virginia Tech signee helped the No. 4 seeded Vikings win three straight games to capture last week's Region 1-AAAAA tournament championship.

Lowndes first-year head coach Rob Williams was named the region's Coach of the Year.

Named to the All-Region boys second team were Justin Brownlee of Tift County, Reggie Pero of Houston County, Demetrius Williams of Coffee, Antonio Tillman of Valdosta and Brent Brock of Lowndes.

Earnest Taylor of Tift County and Quam Hancock of Coffee received honorable mention.

Hall has started the last three seasons for the Packers, leading the team in scoring each year. He was a second-team selection following his injury shortened sophomore season when he averaged 15.1 points and had a career-high 31 points against Worth County.

Healthy as a junior, he averaged 18 points a game and was named to the All-Region first team.

Hall finished his high school career with 1,265 points and averaged 16.4 points a game over the last three seasons.

Stafford is averaging 10.1 points and 6.4 rebounds and has more than 90 steals and assists as the Lady Packers prepare to meet Camden County at 6 tonight at the Espy Gymnasium in the first round of the Class AAAAA state tournament.

She is joined on the girls first team by Cassi Stuart of Houston County, Tiffany Wells of Coffee, Jessica Jenkins of Tift County and Krystal Thomas of Lowndes.

Stuart, who led the regular-season and tournament champion Lady Bears in scoring with 12 points a game, was named the region's Player of the Year.

Houston County coach Sid Baxley was named Coach of the Year after winning both championships in the team's first season in Region 1-AAAAA.

Along with Lemus, the second team includes Brianna McClellan of Coffee, Ray-Donee Jones of Houston County, Justina Brownlee of Tift County and Ashley Gaitor of Valdosta, who led the region in scoring with 14.5 points a game.

Coffee's Courtney Hutto and Houston County's Candice Clark received honorable mention.

Lemus received honorable mention on the All-Region team as a freshman and was named to the first team last year when she averaged 12 points and nine rebounds a game.

This season, she has averaged 12.6 points and just under eight rebounds a game.
