MOULTRIE — Moss Farms diver Kelsey Goodman was unable to match her outstanding prelims performance and finished sixth on the 1-meter springboard in the 16-18 age group on Thursday in at the 2008 Junior National Diving Championships in The Woodlands, Texas.

Goodman was first after posting a 395.05 in the prelims.

Loren Figueroa of the Conroe (Texas) Diving Club was second with a 381.95.

But in the finals, Figuero scored a 404.80 to take the championship.

Team Orlando Diving’s Thea Vock, who was ninth in the prelims, was second with a 381.95.

Goodman scored a 361.70 in the finals.

She placed first on 1-meter and second on 3-meter at the Zone B Championships last month.

Goodman also will dive in the 3-meter event on Saturday, as will her Moss Farms teammate Ann Perry Blank.

Also on Thursday, Moss Farms Diving’s Owen Blank was 27th in the prelims and did not qualify for finals in the 16-18 boys 3-meter finals.

Elizabeth Ann Kirkland will dive in the 12-13 girls 3-meter competition today.

She placed 14th on the 1-meter board on Wednesday, missing qualifying for the event finals by just two points.
