MOULTRIE -- Seven Moss Farms divers are preparing for the high school season and nine more will dive in middle school competitions this winter and all are facing chilly practice sessions.

In the past, when the weather turned too cold for practice at the Moose Moss Aquatic Center, the Moss Farms divers worked out at the Moultrie YMCA.

But a new roof is being put on the pool area at the YMCA and the facility will be unavailable the rest of the winter.

So far, the diving program has been able to practice outdoors.

And the middle school and high school diving teams will continue to practice as their seasons approach.

Colquitt County High, which has dominated the state diving meet over the last 20 years, will have Hannah Moore, Anna Aguero, Staci Howard and Ivey Simpson on its girls team.

The boys team will include Ryan Helms, Owen Blank and Jacob Russell.

Moore is the defending girls Class AAAAA state champion.

Colquitt County's Eric Winnard won the state championship the last two years, but has transferred from the school system.

The first middle school meet will be held on Friday at Westminster School in Atlanta. Both Charlie A. Gray and Willie J. Williams middle schools have teams.

Diving for Charlie A. Gray girls team will be Maddie Qurnell, Ann Perry Blank, Carly Moore and Jody Nichols. Owen Blank will be the lone boys team member.

The Willie J. Williams team includes Juliana Bishop, Megan Cook and Carly Banks. There are no boys team members.

Moss Farms diver Jillian Braun will dive representing Deerfield-Windsor School in Albany.
