Former Colquitt County High and Thomasville High football coach Jim Hughes was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame on Feb. 22. Hughes led three teams to state championships: the 1973 and 1974 Thomasville Bulldogs and the 1994 Colquitt County Packers. The 1994 Colquitt County team went 15-0 and owns the Packers only state football championship. He posted a career record of 247-102-4 and was 140-68-2 in 17 years as the Packers head coach. He retired after the 1999 season and still has the most wins of any coach in Packers history. Also inducted in the Class of 2014 were James Brooks, Bobby Cremins, Homer Rice, Hollis Stacy, Frank Thomas, Chester Webb and Scott Woerner.
