MOULTRIE — Octavious Jackson placed first and set a Colquitt County middle school record in the shot put with his 43-foot, 2-inch effort at the meet held Thursday in Valdosta.

Jackson also was sixth in the discus with a throw of 94 feet, 5 inches.

The Col-quitt County boys team placed fourth in the meet with 47 points.

Steven Johnson helped the team score with his 5:35 in the mile, good for third place. Also in the mile, Jared May was fifth with 5:38 and Deonte Johnson was sixth with a 5:39.

May also was fourth in the 800 meter with a 2:39.

Maleek Lewis was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time oof 13.80. Carlos Johnson was sixth with a 14.45.

Lewis also was fifth in the 200 meters with a 24.91.

In the 100 meters, Ikeem Blakely was fourth with an 11.88. John Peterson was fifth with a 12:09.

The Colquitt County 4x100 relay team of Peterson, Blakely, Quon Knight and Craig Harris was sixth with a 49.81. Th team of Lewis, Johnson, Robert Lingo and Jamal Phillips was seventh with a 550:38.

The Colquitt County middle school girls were sixth with 17 points.

Myesha Flournoy had the teams best finish, with a 68-foot, 10-inch effort in the discus.

Joneria Grant was fourth in the hurdles with a 16.37.

The 4x100 relay team of Zhuneqwa Crawford, Sadarian Jordan, Henrietta Clark and Joneria Grant was fifth with a 55.56.

The 4x100 team of Nikki Leddon, Salonda Jackson, Aikerion Ryce and Shan Madison was sixth with a 56.34.

Jordan as fifth in the 400 meters wiht a 1:08.91; Crawford was sixth in the 200 meters with a 29.47; and Katie Russell was sixth in the mile with a 6:55.
