MOULTRIE — For the second time in five days, the Colquitt County junior varsity baseball team took a one-sided victory over Thomasville on Monday.

Last Thursday, the JV Packers defeated the Bulldogs 20-1 in Thomasville.

It was closer on Monday at Ike Aultman Field at Packer Park — but not much — with Colquitt winning 12-2.

Payne Newsome, Blake Stamps and Zac Goodno each pitched two innings and each gave up a hit. Newsome, the starter, struck out five. Goodno fanned three.

The Packers banged out nine hits, including two each Mark Lindsey and Davis Durham. One of Lindsey’s hits was a double.

Scotty Green had a double and Goodno, Andrew Clark, Stamps and McClellan Mobley each had singles.

The JV Packers will be back at Ike Aultman Field at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for a doubleheader against Valdosta.

Colquitt will play another home doubleheader on Saturday, facing Lee County at noon.
