The Colquitt County junior varsity soccer teams took a pair of convincing victories over Valdosta on Monday at Packer Park.

The junior varsity girls evened their record at 4-4-1 with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Lady Wildcats.

The JV Packers played what coach Mell Wier said was a “lackluster” first half, but pulled away for a 7-1 victory.

The JV boys are now 7-1-1.

The Packers jumped out to a 1-0  lead about 11 minutes into match on a goal by Alejandro Cardenas. Jason Nunez assisted.

Two minutes later, Valdosta tied the match after a Colquitt County defensive miscue.

The Packers were not finished in the first half, however.

Alex Gomez put Colquitt County ahead to stay with an unassisted goal.

And before the first half was over, Nunez made it 3-0 with Richard Garcia getting the assist.

Six minutes into the second half, Garcia made it 4-1 with a goal. Adam Crosby assisted.

With nine minutes left in the match, Jose Martes scored to make it 5-1. Crosby again assisted.

About 90 seconds later, Martes scored again to make it 6-1 with Nunez getting credit for the assist.

Garcia closed out the scoring with his second goal of the match with about a minute remaining. Victor Trejo assisted.

The JV teams will travel to Lee County on Saturday for a pair of matches beginning at 10 a.m.
