Class of 1981's Derrick Smith

Class of 1981 member Derrick Smith, left, was an outstanding wide receiver and defensive back for the Packers and in 1980 he caught a pass from quarterback Keith Todd that resulted in a 93-yard touchdown. The play was the longest in Packers history for 26 years, until broken on a 96-yard touchdown pass from Channing Hudson to Vance Cuff in 2006. He attended Fort Valley State University and has lived for the last 20 years in Leesburg. Smith’s wife April Williams, center, played basketball for Colquitt County under Coach Julian Grantham, right.
