MOULTRIE — The South Georgia Hawgs have been selected to participate in the National Mitey Mite Bowl.
The event will held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
The South Georgia Hawgs Mitey Mites are 9-1 and won the Georgia state championship.
The Hawgs will be at Disney for a two-night stay and given complimentary Disney tickets.
Each participant will be gie complimentary Hopper tickets to their location at Disney World.
The opportunity gives the players and coaches a chance to be recognized nationally and to spend a day at Disney World, something many might not otherwise do.
The South Georgia Hawgs Pop Warner League has as part of its mission statement the goal of allowing its youth to be part of a nationally recognized organization and with this opportunity that goal has been reached. A large portion of the youngsters the program serves are labeled as at-risk and this event might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them.
The Mitey Mites will be the first Georgia team in the Pop Warner Super Bowl and they will play the West Virginia Hawks.
The program is seeking donations to help fund the cost of taking part in the event.
