MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County junior varsity boys soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie with Thomasville High on Thursday in Thomasville.

The Bulldogs scored first on a penalty kick in the 28th minute, but the Packers tied it three minutes later when Isaac Malagon sent a cross to Brandon Mendez, who tapped it in.

Colquitt went ahead when Erik Leon lined a shot from about 45 yards out that was just inside the crossbar.

The Packers held the lead until four minutes were remaining in the game when Thomasville scored on a corner kick.

Coach Justin Nelms said his team had three shots that hit either the crossbar or an upright.

Nelms said Baudilio Martinez had a strong game in the nets.

The game was the third of the week for the JV Packers, who defeated Lowndes 3-2 on Monday and Valdosta 4-0 on Wednesday.

The Packers remain unbeaten, although they fall to 7-0-2.

The JV teams will play host to Lee County at Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Packer Park.
