MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school girls soccer team got its third straight 3-0 victory to open the 2015 season and the middle school boys also are 3-0.
After opening the season with a sweep of Tift County at home last Thursday, the middle school Lady Packers and Packers have both defeated Ben Hill Middle School and Worth County since then.
Monday’s games against Ben Hill in Fitzgerald were rained out and postponed until Tuesday, when the Colquitt County girls won 3-0 and boys won 7-0.
The Lady Packers received goals from Ragan Harden, Chloe Gould in the first half and finished off the scoring with a second-half goal by Daliza Gachuz.
Colquitt County middle school girls coach Ashley Hill said he was especially pleased with the play of his team’s defense, led by defenders Kaylee Brinson, Jami Kling, Josie Parker, Lexie McDaniel and Joylinn Del Angel and keepers Mary Madelyn Jacobs and Julia Warnock.
“They did an exceptional job,” Hill said.
With its outburst in Fitzgerald, the middle school boys had scored 17 goals in its first two matches.
The middle school girls made it three 3-0 wins in a row at Packer Park on Wednesday.
Alaina Taylor got the first goal of the match.
Lexi McDaniel scored the second with an assist going to Danielle Brown.
Brown scored the final goal.
“Worth was very fast, very aggressive,” Hill said.
“But the girls jumped on them early like we asked them to do.”
Hill said the Lady Packers got excellent work from Taylor, Gould and Harden in the midfield.
The middle school boys completed the sweep with a 5-1 victory.
The middle schoolers are expected to be challenged when they play host to Hahira on Thursday, Feb. 19.
