MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County ninth-grade boys basketball team rallied to defeat Thomasville 39-34 on Tuesday on the William Bryant Court at the Espy Gymnasium.
The victory raises the freshmen Packers record to 3-1.
After leading 11-10 after the first quarter and 16-12 at the half, Colquitt trailed 25-24 heading into the final quarter.
“We knocked down our free throws in the fourth quarter to put it away,” said ninth-grade coach Roger Jones. “We didn’t pull away until the final two minutes.”
The Packers hit 19-of-26 free throws.
The freshmen Packers were led by Leamon Madison, who had 10 points.
Jarvis Christopher and Jai Andrews each had nine points; Kaleb Dawson had five; Quintin Dopson had three; and Marcione Thomas had two points.
The ninth-graders were schedule to play Fitzgerald on Saturday, but that game has been postponed.
Their next game will be on Monday, Dec. 1 when they travel to Tift County.
