MOULTRIE — Weather in both Colquitt County and in the Atlanta area caused postponement of several Colquitt County athletic events on Tuesday.
The effects of a winter storm in Atlanta forced the Colquitt County girls basketball team’s first round state tournament game against Newton County in Covington, originally scheduled for Tuesday, to be moved to today at 6 p.m.
The Colquitt County varsity baseball team’s season opener against Cook High scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Tuesday was postponed. No makeup date has been announced.
The Packers now will open the season today with a 5:30 p.m. game at Thomas County Central.
The Colquitt County tennis teams openers scheduled for Tuesday against Tift County at Packer Park were postponed and have not yet been rescheduled.
Also postponed were the eighth-grade baseball team’s season-opener at Berrien and the Packers junior varsity baseball team’s season-opening doubleheader at Lowndes.
