MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County girls softball team made two crucial errors and dropped a 4-0 to Lowndes in Valdosta on Tuesday.

The Lady Packers will take a 3-4 record into the Region 1-AAAAA tournament that will be played next Tuesday through Thursday in Cordele.

The final seeding for the tournament is not likely to be decided before Saturday, Lady Packers coach Carman Phillips said.

Colquitt County is 14-11-1 overall and will meet Thomas County Central in a non-region game at 5 p.m. Thursday at Packer Park.

Kaylin McCoy went the first six innings and Ashley Chapman pitched the seventh, combining on a four-hit shutout for the Vikettes.

Christy Harper went the distance for the Lady Packers and give up just five hits, including a home run by Sarah Santana.

“We had four errors, but two of them really hurt,” Phillips said. “The errors were costly.

“We just gave it away.”

Lowndes scored a single run in the second, then added three more in the fifth.

The Lady Packers also had a runner on third with less than two out twice, but could not captialize.

The Lady Packers got hits from Brooke Hood, Aubrey Perryman, Bria Wallace and Jana Harvin.

The Colquitt County girls Region 1-AAAAA victories this season have come over Coffee, Northside-Warner Robins and Tift County.
