MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school softball team won two of three games on Saturday in the Lee County middle school tournament in Leesburg.

In their first game, coach Jodi Beth Hammock’s girls lost to Lee County 4-1.

The lone Colquitt County hit was a double by Megan May. But the Lady Packers exploded offensively in their next two games.

“We just had a slow start,” Hammock said.

Colquitt defeated Brooks County 16-1 in the next game.

Jordan Taylor had a single and double and May and Cheyenne Reynolds each had two singles. Takiera Courtney, Taylor Owens and Blanca Fuentes each had singles.

In their final game of the tournament, the Lady Packers blanked Cairo 15-0.

Mikki Noble had three singles, May had a triple and a single, Taylor a home run and a triple, Kayla Byum and Mallory Howren each had two singles, Ashley Childs had a double and Cheyenne Sumner had a single.

Colquitt County will play its final games of the season on Wednesday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Lowndes at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex.
