MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school tennis teams met Tift County on Wednesday at the courts at Abraham Baldwin College and won eight of 12 boys matches and six of 11 girls matches.

Four of the boys matches went to tiebreaks, with the Packers winning four. Two girls matches, both involving Haley Trebony, went to tiebreaks. Trebony won them both.

Only the singles matches were played to completion.

“The kids got some experience and that was good,” said Colquitt County’s Mary Saunders.

For the middle school Packers, Nick Mobley fell to Colin Summerlin 2-6; Nick Nichols won over Summerlin 6-3; Jay Tolbert defeated Bennett Gibs, 6-2; Nick Cordista defeated LyleRichardson 6-4; Cody Jenkins defeated Grant Cordle 6-2; John Buck Eunice won over Cordle 6-4; Corey Glow defeated Sam Miller 6-5(7-3); Micah Edwards fell to Tyler Rice 5-6(6-8); Lance Shealy defeatedLukeStephenson 6-5(7-5); Donovan Price won over J.T. Crosby 6-5(7-2); Andy Alekseichuk lost to Dillon Keneness 4-6; Ashton Owens loss to Keneness 1-6.

Conley Ward, the middle school girls top player, was ill and did not compete on Thursday.

The Lady Packers Courtney Terrell lost to Taylor Whitehead 4-6; Anna Barbert won over Megan Bowen 6-0; Camille Kirkland lost to Rebekah Crumley 2-6; Rachel Bostick won over Heather Sattler 6-1; Desiree Cash won over Mary Veazey 6-3; Cash also lost to Allison Walker 4-6; Haley Trebony defeated Carmen Chee and Jordan Hill by identical 6-5(7-5) scores; Christine Barber fell to Rachel Wass 0-6; Taylor Mock won over Angel Dasher 6-4; Tanna Knight lost to Jozie Dill 1-6.

Colquitt will play Pine Grove at Lowndes High on Monday.
