MOULTRIE -- The Colquitt County middle schools girls and boys tennis teams won their conference championships on Saturday at the Abraham Baldwin College courts in Tifton.
Colquitt's girls beat Tift County 4-1; Valdosta 4-1; Lowndes 5-0 and Hahira 4-1.
The boys edged Tift County and Valdosta 3-2 and beat Hahira and Lowndes by 4-1 scores.
In girls singles, at No. 1 Alexa Isaacs lost to Tift County 3-6; beat Valdosta and Lowndes 6-1; and lost to Hahira 5-6.
At No. 2, Kate Reeves beat Tift County 6-0; lost to Valdosta's Jessica Sharpe -6 (8-10); beat Lowndes Garret Scarborough 6-0; and beat Hahira's Mary Beth Hanger 6-3.
At No. 3, Katy Weilbrenner won all of her singles matches, defeating Tift County 6-2; Valdosta 6-0; Lowndes 6-0; and Hahira 6-2.
At No. 1 doubles, Christin Smith and Laura Murphy won all four of their matches, beating Tift County 6-3; Valdosta 6-1; Lowndes 6-0; and Hahira 6-4.
At No. 2, Dresden Melton and Leah Eunice defeated Tift County 6-5 (7-5); won by default over Valdosta; and defeated Hahira 6-0.
Melton and Savanna Lamon won at No. 2 doubles over Lowndes 6-0.
In boys play, Colquitt County's Zach Owen split his four matches at No. 1 singles, beating Tift County 6-3; falling to Valdosta 1-6; losing to Hahira 0-6; and beating Lowndes 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, Chris Harvin defeated Tift County 6-2; lost to Valdosta 3-6; defeated hahira 6-5 (7-2); and lost to Lowndes 4-6.
Austin York, at No. 3 singles, won four straight, defeating Tift County 6-2; Valdosta 6-1; Hahira 6-1; and Lowndes 6-5 (7-4).
Colquitt County used two different No. 1 doubles teams.
Zach Clifton and Seth DeMott lost to Tift County 5-6; Clifton and Nathan Yost defeated Valdosta 6-2 and Hahira 6-5 (7-4); and Clifton and DeMott won over Lowndes 6-3.
At No. 2 doubles, Blake Jenkins and Ryan Sherling lost to Tift County 5-6 (5-7); beat Valdosta 6-0; beat Hahira 6-2; and beat Lowndes 6-3.
