MOULTRIE -- Cole Pitts and Ryan Davis combined on a five-inning no-hitter on Thursday as the Colquitt County Gold 12-and-under all-stars defeated Thomson-McDuffie 9-1 to advance at the Georgia Receation and Parks Association's Class B state tournament in Statesboro.
Colquitt County will meet Lyons at 10 this morning in the final winners bracket game.
The Colquitt County-Lyons winner will meet the losers bracket survivor at 10 a.m. Saturday in the state championship game.
The "if" game would be played at noon if needed.
Lyons also advanced on Thursday, shutting out Wayne County 1-0. Lyons had opened the tournament with Wednesday victory over Baldwin County.
Pitts pitched the first two innings and struck out four. Davis pitched the final three innings also fanned four. He gave the only run, which was unearned, in the fourth inning.
Davis led Colquitt County offensively with three hits and two runs batted in. Blake Stamps had two hits.
Pitts, Hayden Kudela, Daylon Connell, Matthew Creech and Tyler Brown had Gold's other hits.
Kudela, Pitts and Creech each drove in two runs. Connell drove in one.
Colquitt County scored four runs in the first, four more in the third and got the final run in the fourth.
Gold opened state tournament play with 16-0 victory over Calhoun on Tuesday.
