The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department’s 2014 youth baseball season opened on Monday with six games at the Magnolia Sports Complex.
Hutchinson-Traylor won the Midget League season-opener 7-3 over Mobley Plant.
Lucas Tostenson was the winning pitcher and Lane Bruce had two hits for Hutchinson-Traylor.
Kason Davis was 3-for-3 and Chance Caulder and Tyler Coots each had one hit for Mobley Plant.
Davis Insurance blanked Southwest Georgia Bank 6-0 in the other Midget League game on Monday.
Jacob Walden was the winning pitcher. Brooks Henry also pitched for Davis Insurance.
Henry had two hits and Justice Zeigler, Wes Davis and Duron Rushing each had one hit for Davis Insurance.
Nate Creech had two hits and Mack Suber had one for Southwest Georgia Bank.
In Farm League play on Monday, Liberty Tax won its opener 10-1 over Farm Bureau.
Will Snipes had three hits and Thomas Propst, Landon Griffin, Thomas Webb and Brady Blackburn each had two.
Ameris blanked Zaxby’s 12-0 in Monday’s other Farm League game.
Pershaun Fann, Miller Tompkins, Jordan Hudson, Tyler Hamilton and Seth Ellis each had two hits for Ameris.
Chase Blanton had two hits for Zaxby’s.
In Monday’s Tiny Mites, Stone’s and Zaxby’s battled to a 6-6 tie and Southwest Georgia Bank defeated Holman Supply 8-7.
