MOULTRIE — Seven Moss Farms divers have qualified for the Zone Championships, including Elizabeth Ann Kirkland, who took first place on the 3-meter springboard at last weekend’s Region 7 Championships in Orlando.

Also qualifying for the Zone D Championships, which will be held July 9-12 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, are Henry Norman, Ann Perry Blank, Kelsey Goodman, Haley Goodman, Tristan Wells and Parker Hardigree.

All competed in the Region Championships, where the top 15 finishers advance to Zone competition.

At the Zone meets, divers will attempt to qualify for either the USA Diving Age Group Championships or the Junior National Diving Championships, both of which will be held at the Moose Moss Aquatics Center in August.

Kirkland had an outstanding meet in Orlando, winning on the 3-meter board and finishing second on 1-meter in the girls 14-15 age group.

“That was her best meet ever,” Moss Farms Coach Ed Goodman said.

Kirkland scored a 394.90 to win on 3-meter, edging Team Orlando’s Sydney Couch by 1.35 points.

Couch won on 1-meter, finishing 25.30 points ahead of Kirkland, who scored a 337.80.

Haley Goodman also competed in 14-15 girls and was ninth on 1-meter and 10th on 3-meter.

Kelsey Goodman also had a strong Region meet, finishing third on both springboards in the 16-18 girls age group. She scored a 423.75 on 1-meter and a 410.40 on 3-meter.

Blank was right behind, finishing fourth on 1-meter with a 375.25 and fifth on 3-meter with a 379.85.

Wells, diving in the 12-13 boys age group, also had a pair of third-place finishes, scoring a 245.05 on 3-meter and 235.25 on 1-meter.

Hardigree qualified for Zone competition in the 11-and-under boys competition, finishing third — out of 13 divers — on 1-meter with a 194.10 and seventh on 3-meter with a 172.60.

Norman was 10th on 3-meter with a 324.75 and 13th on 1-meter with a 296.75 in the 16-18 boys age group.
