Colquitt County seniors Bryce Giddens and Ty Smith have been selected for the Georgia North-South high School All-Star game, which will be played Dec. 30 in Columbus.
The game is sponsored by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association.
Maurice Freeman of Brooks County is the coach of the South team.
Steve Sewell of Pickens is the North team’s head coach.
Smith, who has committed to the University of Georgia, finished his senior season with 46 catches for 680 yards and five touchdowns.
Giddens has been the Packers starting center since midway through his freshman season and has committed to play collegiately at Southern Mississippi.
Both Smith and Giddens were preseason All-State selections.
Also on the South team are Lowndes High’s Josh Clemons, an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11 pick; offensive lineman Jonathan Hester of Valdosta; defensive end Michael Wakefield of Valdosta; defensive back Shaquan Brock of Camden County; and wide receiver Travin Henry of Cook.
Among the players on the North’s roster are guard Garrett Gorringe of Grayson, center Fred Zerblis of Grayson, defensive end Sebastian Rice of Grayson and defensive end Jordan Washington of North Gwinnett.
The rosters are not completed.
The North-South All-Star game, which was started in 1938, is one of the oldest of its kind in the country.
