MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Gray team, made up of eighth- and ninth-graders, and the junior varsity dropped a doubleheader to Berrien on Thursday at Packer Park.

The Gray team fell 5-2.

Cheyenne Tillman did the pitching.

Cheyenne Sumner had two hits and Hayli Spradley and Kerri Owens each had one for the Gray Lady Packers.

“We just had one bad inning,” Coach Chance Pitts said of the fifth, during which his team gave up four runs on three walks and a pair of errors.

“We saw some good things. The effort was there. We’ll get better.”

The junior varsity team fell to Berrien 10-8 in its opener.

“As a team, we had 10 hits, which I am very pleased about,” said Coach Tiffanie Young. “We’re a very young team. I think this being our first game, we were a little nervous.

“I see a lot of potential in this team.

The two teams will play host to Cook beginning at 4 p.m. next Monday.
