MOULTRIE — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department will play host to a Mite girls tournament on Saturday as the Colquitt County team gets ready for District play.

Colquitt County 17-and-under senior girls team also is preparing for its District tournament.

Saturday’s double-elimination Mite girls tournament at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex will feature six teams.

Colquitt County will open the tournament with at 9 a.m. game against Tifton.

Adel-Cook will face Worth County, also at 9 a.m.

The Tifton-Colquitt County winner will meet Lakeland at 10:15 a.m.

Also at 10:15 a.m., Thomasville will play the winner of the game between Adel-Cook and Worth County.

The championship game is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.

The Colquitt County team includes Amber Kling, Christin Hunnicutt, Paris Sumner, Reagan Goforth, Dakota Baker, Lora Grace Bruce, Kallie Gay, Allison Young, Bailey Thomas, Sydnee Dalton and Mckenlee Coleman. Craig Baker and DeWayne Bruce are coaching the team.

The Georgia Parks and Recreation Department’s District III 10-and-under maching pitch tournament will be held June 22-26 in Cordele.

Colquitt County will play its opener at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 22, against Sylvester-Worth County.

With a victory, Colquitt County would advance to a 7:15 p.m. winner’s bracket game against the Thomasville YMCA-Tift County winner.

The Colquitt County senior girls all-stars will play in the District III tournament that runs Monday through Thursday in Leesburg.

Colquitt County will open the double-elimination tournament at 6:30 p.m. Monday against Lee County.

The other first-round game will feature Grady County against Bainbridge, also at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18.

The Colquitt County roster includes Aubrey Perryman, Meagan May, Brooke Hood, Kaley Clark, Christy Harper, Ciatlin Carr, Jana Harvin, Kaytlyne Jarvis, Anna Laura Beason, Jordan Taylor, Hannah Hancock and Stephanie Blair.

The team’s coaches are Craig Perryman, Laurie Harper and Clif Taylor.
