MOULTRIE -- The Colquitt County tennis teams made quick work of Thomas County Central on Monday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex, but the level of competition will be considerably tougher today and Thursday.
The Lady Packers and Packers, each 4-0 after 5-0 victories over Central, will play host to former region opponent Bainbridge beginning at 4 p.m. at the Jim Buck Goff Complex.
And on Thursday, Region 1-AAAAA rival Tift County visits.
"We'll be able to do some serious evaluation" against Bainbridge, Colquitt County coach Grant Hammack said. "It will answer a few questions we have."
And Thursday's meeting with Tift County will be even more important as the Packers and Lady Packers, both 2-0 in the region, chase league championships.
Central did not offer much of a challenge on Monday, with none of the matches going to three sets.
At Nos. 1 and 2 boys singles, Colquitt took 6-0, 6-0 victories, with Nathaniel Hiers beating Jesse Hall and Brian Michie taking down Matt Fletcher.
At No. 3 singles, freshman Tyler Tucker defeated Aaron Griner 6-0, 6-3.
Both Colquitt County boys doubles teams also won 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1, Taylor Dekalb and Clayton Brooks defeated J.C. Green and Jordan Rollins, and Bradley Michie and Brent Allen took Jonathan Mims and Michaelle Prevatte.
In a pair of extra singles matches, Kyle Taylor won 8-1 and Tyler Tucker won 8-0.
The girls scores were nearly as one-sided.
At No. 1 singles, Lindsey Jacobs defeated Hanna Keyton, 6-2, 6-0. Abbigail McCrary won easily at No. 2 singles, defeating Leslie Harper 6-0, 6-1.
And Amber Eunice won over Maggie McGalliard 6-0, 6-0.
Gracie Qurnell and Elizabeth Singley played No. 1 doubles and bested Yolanda Travis and Jessica Dunbar 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 2 singles, Anne Yearta and Monique Murphy defeated Toni Wooten and Sherma Armstead 6-0, 6-3.
In an extra doubles match, Anna Jordan and Landi Clark won easily 8-1.
Colquitt's boys now have defeated Cairo, Coffee and Central by 5-0 scores and Lee County 4-1.
The Packers have not lost at singles.
The Lady Packers opened the season with a 4-1 victory over Cairo, then have defeated Coffee, Lee County and Central by 5-0 scores.
The Lady Packers have not lost in doubles.
